Flamingos, ducks, seagulls, herons, grey and white pelicans, frigates are just some of the more than 100 native and migratory species of birds who live on the soil of Holbox Island. Most of them nest here, in Isla Pajaros, located only 10 minutes by boat from the village. This small piece of land is protected from the federal law and has been equipped with two observation towers to avoid disturbing the endangered species and appreciate looking at them very close. In this tour the different beauties of the island are visited and experienced. Only limited availability. Cost from Holbox: (min. 4 persons) 45 USD per person (includes box lunch and coffee break, trip to Bird Island and Passion Island, slalom in the river to see mangroves (if possible), bath in Punta Mosquitoes and cenote Yalahau, search for dolphins and flamingos, professional snorkeling gears). Cost from Cancun & Riviera Maya: (min. 6 persons) 185 USD per person (includes ground transportation in air-conditioned van from / to your hotel, coffee break, private boat to Holbox, trip to Bird Island and Passion Island, slalom in the river to see mangroves (if possible), Punta Mosquitoes and cenote Yalahau, box lunch, search for dolphins and flamingos, professional snorkeling gears and three courses menu in a local beach restaurant.) What to bring: Sun cream, extra T-shirt, towel, camera, sandals, spray against mosquitoes, extra cash for drinks, tips and souvenirs, sea-sick medicaments and swimming suit. Time Plan: (subject to change) 04.00 – 05.00 Departure from Cancun and Riviera Maya towards Holbox 07.30 – 08.00 Briefing, coffee break and start of the bird watching tour. 08.00 – 11.00 Swim in the cenote Yalahau. Visit of 11.00 – 12.00 12.00 – 13.00 Three courses lunch in a local restaurant on the beach and possibility of having a small tour by feet in the village of Holbox Island. 13.00 – 14.00 Visit the cenote Yalahau and its surroundings. 17.30 – 18.30 Arrival in Cancun and Riviera Maya. Tour only available upon two days prior reservation and confirmation. Following availability and with an extra charge, the transportation is also available by plane.
