The ways to arrive to the island are different and all of them differ concerning cost and comfort. You can take a bus, rent a car, come by taxi or even fly. TAKE A BUS It is the cheapest way you can choose. The cost from Cancun to Chiquila’ is more or less 7 USD (one way) and takes about 3 hours. The buses leave at 8.30, 12.40 and 13.45 from the central station of Cancun. From Merida leaves at 11:30 and from Valladolid at 14:30. Time are subject to change until confirmed. Reservations have to be made directly with the service provider in the city of departure. RENT A CAR From Cancun take the free highway 180 or Avenida Lopez Portillo direction Merida, stay always on the right also when the road separates, at El Ideal turn right to Isla Holbox, direction Kantunilkin. Once in Chiquila’ park the car in one of the different spot available for 5 USD daily and take the boat that will bring you to Holbox Island. Depending from the choice you make the boats cost between 2 USD and 4 USD for one way and departs almost every hour. The option of renting a car is very suitable for people who want to combine comfort and relatively low costs. Different sorts of cars and vans are available departing from Cancun Airport, Cancun Central Bus Station, as well as other destinations like Playa del Carmen and Akumal. Different car rentals are available in Cancun and Riviera Maya. All of them provide different cars and prices. Even though no car reservations can be done with Mextreme Travel, we decided to select for you some of the biggest and most reliable agencies. (More details) COME BY TAXI Another option available is coming by taxi. One of our team leaders can organize for you a private car or air-conditioned van that picks you up wherever you are, whether in Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Riviera Maya, Merida or Palenque. Prices are subject to change until confirmed and depend on the time and city of departure. Reservations have to be made directly with one of our team leaders at least two days prior arrival. The prices are only from Holbox and for one way. All taxis are safe, air conditioned and comfortable. No refunds in case of not using the service. Part of the income is donated to local charities and future sustainable projects. (More details) FLY TO HOLBOX Private flights available from Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Merida, Tulum, Chetumal, Palenque, Cozumel and Isla Mujeres. The planes are for five and twelve passengers. The rates do not include airport taxes. Prices are per plane and subject to change until confirmed. Reservations have to be made directly with one of our team leaders at least two days prior departure. Valid passport needed. Panorama tours also available. Airport taxes not included. (More details) BOAT TO HOLBOX Once arrived in Chiquila there will be public and private boats ready to transport you on the other side of the Yalahau lagoon, where the island of Holbox is located. Leaving st every hour private boats are the most common and cheaper way of crossing. Private boats to Holbox are available upon reservation. Also possible to organize transportation by boat from Cancun and Riviera Maya. (More details) |
