From Cancun take the free highway 180 or Avenida Lopez Portillo direction Merida, stay always on the right also when the road separates, at El Ideal turn right to Holbox, direction Kantunilkin. Once in Chiquila’ park the car in one of the different spot available for 5 USD daily and take the boat that will bring you to Holbox. Depending from the choice you make the boats cost between 2 USD and 4 USD for one way and departs almost every hour. The option of renting a car is very suitable for people who want to combine comfort and relatively low costs. Different sorts of cars and vans are available departing from Cancun Airport, Cancun Central Bus Station, as well as other destinations like Playa del Carmen and Akumal.
